A report suggests we could eat more calories every day without damaging our health.Previous advice said men should limit their daily intake to 2,500 calories, and women to 2,000.
It seems that the instinct that says "A little of what you fancy does you good" is quite right. So if you are facing change and challenge in many areas of your life, a little bit of comfort eating is not such a problem.
But now scientists say we could be able to increase our intake by 16% - or one cheeseburger a day.That is according to a draft report by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN).
Just don't let the one cheeseburger or the small bar of chocolate become two or three. Use this "naughtiness" allowance as a reward for accomplishing something you have been procrastinating over, and you can enjoy feeling virtuous as well as indulgent.
